A Customer Empathy Map is used to put yourself in the shoes of your target customer. When creating advertising messages it’s easy to let personal bias creep in and do things from your perspective. However this tool challenges you to approach the solutions from a customers perspective

Customer Persona Template

A Customer Persona Template is used to capture what you know about your customer and to back it up with data. Although it may seem a little simplistic, this is a good exercise to go through with your team. The information should be free of assumptions which is a good reason to co-create this with your sales and direct customer service teams. You could incorporate direct quotes or feedback from market research.

Customer Value Proposition

A Customer Value proposition will help you articulate what you are delivering for your customers. Be prepared to put yourself in their shoes again to understand the benefits and proof points that you are offering, taking away any risks to determine the value you are creating. This may be challenging to draft at first but it’s the best way to get to a simple statement about what your business delivers. Taking this a step further, you might want to translate it into a short paragraph statement. Using the prompts below, have a go at writing this value statement.
