India has become Australia’s fastest growing tourist market with visitor numbers increasing by 53 per cent. However, half of visitors to Australia in 2018–19 came to see friends and relatives, compared to 33 per cent a decade ago. Only 17 per cent listed holiday as the main purpose of their visit.
