Tourism and international student numbers from the Philippines to Australia are set to be boosted by the announcement of a new direct Perth-Manila service by Philippine Airlines. The non-stop service will commence in March 2020 with four flights each week.
Jetstar has launched its new route into Asia, with non-stop flights from the Gold Coast to South Korea’s capital, Seoul, taking off on Sunday.
It’s the first time a low-cost airline has linked the two countries. Currently two Korean airlines, Asiana and Korean Air, fly between Sydney and Seoul, while Korean Air also offers direct flights from Brisbane.
Chinese internet conglomerate Tencent is targeting Australian and New Zealand marketing budgets, offering a suite of digital advertising tools to reach mainland Chinese consumers. The platform has been used by Tourism Australia and Tourism New Zealand to drive the growth of Chinese Free Independent Travellers (FIT) – those travelling independently without a tour group.
Kakadu Tourism and Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia together with national operators that sell NT tourism products, Journey Beyond, Sealink, New Asia Pacific Tours and AAT Kings are currently taking part in Tourism Australia’s flagship trade event in China, Australia Marketplace China 2019. The NT delegation will raise the profile of the Territory’s visitor experiences and encourage the Chinese market to travel to the NT.
The Tourism Australia’s board has appointed WPP’s “OPR” as its global agency in September, 2019, along with Reuter Communications for China work to make its travel facilities and infrastructure more ‘China-ready’. The contract is for a period of 24 months, with the option for a 12-month extension.
